The Cathedral of Eger is the second biggest cathedral in the country. On Bishop János Pyrker's initiative it was designed by József Hild in neoclassic style, and completed in a surprisingly short period of time (1831 - 1836). The cathedral has Hungary's biggest organ that is still in use. The organ is sounded at 11.30 a.m. (12.45 on Sundays) each day (this program lasts from May 15 until October 15).
